#2

Joshua decided that the hottest, most humid day of the year so far would be a great time to start cutting that last molar.  And no, it is NOT a bittersweet thought AT ALL!  I packed him into the stroller and we all walked Drew to school, along with his birthday cupcakes for snack.  We then continued on to the post office, the bank, and finally, the dollar store for a cold drink to enjoy as we walked home in the baking sun.

They splashed in the pool, since that's about the only thing that keeps Josh happy right now, while I took care of the ever-present housework.  (Note:  That "the" is not all-inclusive.  Housework is never, ever completely done.)

I suggested getting started on their summer work packets, or at least spending some quiet time reading.  They stared at me in disbelief.  "Mom! It's our first day of vacation!" Kate exclaimed.  I settled for a stern warning that one day of complete laziness is all there will be.  I am going to the dentist this afternoon to have a missing filling replaced, and I am dreading it immensely.  I am forced to suffer in silence, though, since the kids think the dentist is great fun (and yes, Kate even had a tooth filled already, so it's not ignorance) and are begging for their turn.  So I am left feeling like a grown-up wimp....
Eating lunch on the stairs...not a typical place to eat, but it was just the two of them.  And, like I said, they are lazy today!

  1. Poor Carol - I know how you feel concerning dentist appointments :-(. I had some during last autumn and winter and I suffered a lot because of a filling, a tooth crown and a root canal therapy.
I hope your dentist appointment went well and you don't suffer too much pain!
