Looking Back....With Gratefulness

If God had dropped a note from the sky in the summer of 2006, telling us that He was sending our family to Thailand, we probably would not have been ready to say "Yes, Lord." We definitely would not have been adequately prepared. The intervening six years were full of changes---some abrupt, some gradual. A few years ago, we did figure out that God was preparing us for Something, so we started paying more attention to the growth curve. We stopped seeing our unconventional (at least for Lancaster County) journey as random twists and turns. Instead, we noticed that it was more like building blocks, and that Something was taking shape. I won't lie and tell you it was easy. Because it wasn't. Still isn't. Probably won't be.

But never once did we ever walk alone. This song, by Matt Redman, sums up so perfectly what we feel when we look back on the past several years. I can't sing it without crying. The battleground....the mountaintop.....IT'S ALL GOD!

  1. Love this song! Same emotional response here...the first time we sang it in church I was totally caught off guard by my emotional response! I'm wearing out the CD it's on... :-) Praying for you all during this transition!
