Actually, we've been back home since 1:30 AM Monday morning, but today is the first day that I feel like myself. Being in transit for 40 hours and crossing 11 time zones does weird things to a body, mainly that it gets hungry or tired when people on the other side of the world are eating or sleeping. Last night, I finally slept more than 4 hours, and I woke up at 5:00 instead of 1:00.
There is so much to write about our trip, but today is not the the day. The kids were relatively happy and healthy while we were away---thanks, Jen and Heidi!---which was a huge answer to prayer. And we had an awesome trip! It's hard to believe we were only in Thailand for a week; there was a LOT crammed into those days. We honestly did not expect to like Asia (we knew we liked South America, Africa, and Europe; maybe we figured that sooner or later we had to meet a continent we didn't like?). Not only did we LIKE it, we fell in love with it. So when God clearly said that northeast Thailand is the right place and this is the right time....our hearts said YES!
I'll write more about the specific unreached people group (Isaan) we are called to, as well as where we'll be living and what we'll be doing when I have more time and when I can post accompanying pictures. God willing, we would love to be moving to Thailand next summer!
These are very interesting news, Carol!
ReplyDeleteHow did you get the idea to go to Thailand?
And is it already decided that you will move to Thailand next summer?
For how many years do you plan to stay there?
And what are you going to do with the people (Isaan) there?
Will you teach them?
Such a lot of questions...
Hope you don't mind me asking them!
Greetings,
Anja
WOW ... Such good news that the week verified your call and that your kiddos survived the time away from you and Keith. I'm looking forward to reading more about your trip and the next steps.
